Selection Process and Criteria

Prospective RARE Host Organization and Member Interviews:

RARE AmeriCorps staff will review completed applications from prospective host organizations and members. Staff will conduct interviews with potential host organizations and members by telephone or Zoom. Selected host organizations and members will be invited to participate in Placement Interviews to determine which member will serve with which host organization.

Placement Interviews:

In advance of Placement Interviews, selected host organizations will be asked to complete a member position description that will be shared with members who may be a good fit for that position. Host organizations will receive the application materials of those members. Host organizations and members will interview each other during Placement Interview week to determine best fit.

Matchmaking:

Following Placement Interviews, host organizations and members rank their top choices and share their feedback with the RARE AmeriCorps staff. Every effort is made to match both the host organization’s and the member’s first or second preference. All placements are mutual decisions made by host organization supervisor, member, and RARE AmeriCorps staff. We cannot ensure that every person who interviews will find an appropriate placement.
