New RARE member joins GBA staff

BANDON — Dana Nichols is the newest addition to the Greater Bandon Association staff, serving as a RARE (Resource Assistance for Rural Environments) AmeriCorps member. Nichols will take on the role of Program Manager during her time with GBA, working to coordinate all of the exciting events and activities planned for this year. In addition, she will also spend part of her time working in the Planning Department at the City of Bandon.

Nichols comes most recently from Eugene where she received her Master’s Degree in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Oregon. During her time as a student, she interned with the City of Coburg in historic preservation and parks planning, worked as a project manager for the U of O Community Service Center, and served as the president of LiveMove, the University’s active transportation and livability student group. Prior to that, Nichols traveled around the United States serving as an AmeriCorps NCCC member and also enjoyed some time living in the Midwest and growing up on the East Coast.

“Most of all, Nichols is thrilled to be working in Bandon and truly looking forward to spending her time here getting to know everyone,” said Harv Schubothe, chairman of the GBA. “She would like to thank the City of Bandon and the Greater Bandon Association for welcoming her with open arms.”
