Meet Jared Sidman:

Jared received his B.S. in Information Sciences & Technology from The Pennsylvania State University and a Post-Baccalaureate Accelerated Certification for Teaching from Delaware Valley University. Jared most recently completed a 2-year Peace Corps assignment in the Micronesian islands, where he worked as a full-time teacher, grants coordinator and a youth-in-development director. He enjoys the outdoors, traveling, and volunteering, among other things, and looks forward to learning even more from new experiences during his time in Oregon.

Community and Organization:

The City of Cottage Grove, located off of Interstate 5, Oregon Route 99, the Union Pacific Railroad, and the confluence of the Row River and the Coast Fork of the Willamette, is known as the “Covered Bridge Capital of Oregon”. It maintains many aspects of its heritage even with its convenient proximity to transportation networks and Eugene-Springfield (just 21.2 miles north). Events in Cottage Grove include Bohemia Mining Days, the Western Oregon Exposition/Cottage Grove Family Fair, and the Covered Bridge Festival. The City’s downtown has the most intact collection of early twentieth century buildings in Lane County and features 21 public murals.

Project:

The RARE member, Jared Sidman, will work with the Main Street Board of Directors and local business owners to lead the Cottage Grove Main Street Program. Jared will be responsible for the coordination and oversight of the Main Street Program itself. This will include managing the organization’s development, and overseeing the program’s economic development, promotions, and design projects.
