Meet Alexandra Corvello:

Alexandra majored in Economics and Environmental Studies at UC Santa Cruz and got her Masters in Community and Regional Planning at the University of Oregon. Originally from the California Bay Area, Alexandra wants to help communities become more resilient to unexpected changes from disruptive events, including natural hazards, economic downturns, etc. She looks forward to using the knowledge gained in school to the benefit of the rural communities in Lane County.

Community and Organization:

Located at the south end of the Willamette River Valley in west-central Oregon, Lane County covers roughly 4,553 sq mi spanning from the Pacific Ocean to the Cascade Mountains. There are 12 incorporated cities and over 77 unincorporated communities located within the County limits. Lane County’s Economic Development Department partners with cities and unincorporated communities to support and improve their economic and community environments.

Project:

The RARE member, Alexandra Corvello, will focus on improving the economic opportunities for Lane County communities. Her main projects include increasing rural broadband access through a marketing campaign for SpeedUpAmerica and Rural Broadband Report, expanding on the County’s Rural Prosperity Initiative’s strategic actions, and helping communities with projects that come up over the course of her term. Alexandra is the first RARE placement working for Lane County’s Economic Development Department and is excited to be a part of the beginning of a long term partnership between Lane County and RARE.
