Meet Cody Kleinsmith (he/him/his):
Cody is a native Oregonian and recent graduate from the University of Oregon. His academic focus was on urban planning, environmental policy, and the ways the built environment and natural ecosystems can be integrated together to mutually benefit both sides. Cody is excited to bring these focus areas with him to Lane County, and is excited to explore more of the surrounding areas while he’s at it!
Community and Organization:
Cody is serving in Lane County and is placed within the county government itself. Nestled into the Climate Team in the Public Works Waste Management division, Cody will be looking at the whole of Lane County and its interactions with a changing climate. Stretching from the Pacific Ocean to the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, Lane County is a diverse region that exemplifies many of the best aspects of Oregon.
Project:
Over the course of the year, Cody will be working on the Climate Action Plan (CAP) which began in 2019. A multistage project, Cody will be providing support on the Mitigation Plan as well as taking the project lead on the upcoming third stage of the CAP, the Resilience Plan. In addition to this work, he will also be investigating green economy initiatives and collaborating with the Climate Advisory Committee.
