Meet Dabeat Nieto Wenzell (he/him):
Dabeat Nieto Wenzell graduated from the University of Oregon with a B.A. in Public Policy, Planning, and Management and a minor in Ethnic Studies. Before attending the University of Oregon, he worked in film (fiction & documentary) and advertising for ten years in Ecuador. He has worked on different projects for the city of Eugene. His career goal is to work as a civil servant to strengthen equity within community institutions. He enjoys working as part of a team, exploring new places, meeting new people, and exchanging ideas. He knows teamwork is essential for success and helps generate project efficiency and enthusiasm.
Community and Organization:
Coburg is in the southern Willamette Valley, near Eugene and various agricultural communities. The city is notably vibrant, featuring connections to the agricultural industry, antique shops, and an annual fair. Since 2018, it has proudly hosted the Pacific Northwest Marathon. The Coburg Historic Walking Tour is a favored activity for visitors. The southern section of the Oregon State Willamette Valley Bikeway goes through downtown, making it an excellent stop for touring cyclists. Visitors can also enjoy several annual events, including the Coburg Car Classic, Coburg Antique Fair, and Summer Concerts alongside the Farmer’s Market in the Park.
Projects:
Over the eleven months, he will be serving as a Water Quality Specialist in the City of Coburg, Muddy Creek with an irrigation project, and City of Tangent Erosion Mitigation and Trail Redevelopment as required by the Department of Environmental Quality to implement best management practices outlined in the Willamette Valley Mercury Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Water Quality Management Plan (WQMP).
