Meet Emily Bradley:

Emily is originally from Michigan’s Metro-Detroit area and moved to Oregon in 2018 to serve in the RARE Program with the City of Reedsport. Currently in her second year with the RARE Program, Emily first served as the coordinator for the Reedsport Main Street Program and now is serving both the City of Reedsport and the Reedsport/Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce. Emily has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Information Science from the University of Alabama where she studied Public Relations, Communication Studies, Spanish, and Global Studies. In the future, Emily plans to earn her Master’s and PhD to conduct research and teach as a professor.

Community and Organization:

Established at the confluence of the Umpqua River, Smith River, and Scholfield Creek as a timber town, the City of Reedsport has experienced a shift towards other industries, like services and tourism. Known as the “Gateway to the Dunes” and the “Chainsaw Carving Capital of Oregon”, the City of Reedsport benefits from its location where the forested mountains meet the sandy coast. From ATVing and hiking the famous Oregon Dunes or kayaking nearby Loon Lake, to learning about local history at the Umpqua Discovery Center or watching Roosevelt Elk at the Dean Creek Wildlife Area, it is a dynamic community with a range of offerings.

Project:

Emily helped to build capacity and promote tourism in Oregon’s Lower Umpqua region on the Oregon Coast. She helped build and implement a tourism brand including guidelines, marketing plan and visitor materials as well as completed destination development projects such as wayfinding and grant-writing.
