Meet Megan Winner:

Megan grew up in a small town in northwestern Pennsylvania. She majored in Sociology with a concentration in Social Justice and Policy at Duquense University in Pittsburgh and recently received a Master’s in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Oregon. Megan enjoys crafting, reading, exploring nature and spending time with friends and family. She is excited to apply her skills, knowledge and passion to serve in the field and be a part of the charming community of Coburg.

Community and Organization:

Coburg is a quaint, historic community that maintains a strong sense of rural identity albeit close proximity to a metro area. Coburg is known for its natural beauty and National Historic District. Located just 10 minutes north of Eugene and Springfield, Oregon in the heart of the south Willamette Valley, Coburg offers many of the amenities of a larger town while maintaining its rural charm. Separated from its urban neighbors by a stretch of farmland and the McKenzie River, Coburg residents maintain a high quality of life with biking, antique shopping, walkability and historic homes. Coburg welcomes growth and is business friendly. Coburg has substantial light industrial and highway commercial property available along Interstate 5 as well as development opportunities in the quaint downtown. Coburg recently made multi-million dollar investments in water and wastewater systems as well as improvements at the Coburg-I-5 Interchange.

Project:

The RARE member, Megan, will coordinate economic development efforts in the community. A new Economic Development Committee will bring to the table local partners, regional partners, business owners and residents to develop a strategy and design a workplan to shape momentum moving forward. Megan will provide administrative support including outreach, meeting facilitation, oral presentations and written reports for the Committee. In addition, Megan will oversee the Heritage Committee which manages historic preservation tasks and grants. She will also plan and promote community events and festivals, in addition to other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
