Meet Sarah Abigail Moehrke:

Sarah Abigail majored in Politics and Government at Ripon College (WI). She has an excellent sense of direction, writes and produces her own podcast, and has life experience in both rural and urban communities across the United States. Sarah looks forward to seeing and implementing real change in rural communities.

Community and Organization:

The City of Florence sits at the mouth of the Siuslaw River, where the Coast Range Mountains meets the Oregon Dunes. This historic coastal city once heavily relied on logging, commercial fishing, and other natural resource industries. Today the tourism and service industries are growing in Florence. With nearby beaches, hiking, ATVing, camping, horseback riding, sightseeing, or dining, either in town or just a short drive on scenic US Highway 101 (Oregon Coast Highway), Florence benefits from its proximity to natural and cultural amenities.

Project:

Sarah Abigail Moehrke will act as Community & Economic Development Assistant, working with the City of Florence to complete various projects within the City’s 2017-18 and 2019-2020 work plans. Sarah Abigail will primarily work with Florence’s Public Art Committee, helping committee members select and install two large-scale public art pieces in Florence’s Urban Renewal District. Additionally, she will work with the city’s economic and community development team and assist planning department’s reassessment of the Transportation System Plan.
