Moving back to Oregon, she hopes to utilize her experience in community engagement and passion for environmental justice to help continue to build a strong and resilient food system in the Rogue Valley.

Community and Organization:

Tucked between the Cascade, Siskiyou, and Coastal mountain ranges of Southern Oregon, the Rogue Valley comprises Jackson and Josephine counties. The Rogue Valley Food System Network works to connect the local food and farm community by promoting equitable food access, ecologically sound agricultural practices and economic vitality across the region to nourish a resilient local food system.

Project:

As the Community Food Assessment Coordinator, Ella’s work focuses on updating the previous community food assessments in both Jackson and Josephine counties. Last updated 10 years ago, much has changed in the region’s food system highlighting the need for identifying up to date community needs, gaps in the current system, and viable solutions moving forward. Additionally, Ella is working with the Josephine County Farm Collective and supporting their work to become a viable food hub for local farmers and residents.
