Meet Milo Greenberg (he/him):
Milo was raised in Seattle, and attended college at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, where he earned a B.A. in Politics, Policy, Law and Ethics, and a minor in Data Science. Milo was actively involved in the Willamette community, competing in cross country and track and field, and serving on the executive boards of the Jewish Student Union and Associated Students of Willamette University. While in college, Milo worked as a field intern for Senator Patterson’s reelection campaign, a legislative intern for Representative DeFazio’s D.C. office, and a research assistant for the AI Advisory Board for the State of Oregon. Milo is excited to pivot to nonprofit work for his service year, learning about how government action manifests and impacts communities. In his free time, Milo enjoys running and playing stand-up bass.
Community and Organization:
NEOEDD is based in Enterprise, a city of about 2000 people and the county seat of Wallowa County. The county is a hub for outdoor recreation. People come from all over the world to explore Wallowa Lake, the Wallowa Mountains, the high desert, Zumwalt Prairie, the Wallowa-Whitman Forest, and Hell’s Canyon.
NEOEDD provides financial, technical, and educational resources for entrepreneurs, small businesses, nonprofits, and municipalities in Northeast Oregon. These resources fluctuate based on the needs of the community at any given time, but currently include a matched savings account program, workshops for business owners and services like grant writing and nonprofit management.
Projects:
Milo is serving as the Bridges to Resilience Coordinator at NEOEDD. Like many communities, Northeast Oregon is vulnerable to a variety of natural hazards and economic challenges, namely wildfire, storms, limited housing supply, and a vulnerable power grid. Furthermore, the long distance between communities in the region and often limited resources available makes responding to these challenges difficult. Milo is responsible for connecting with organizations in the region working to address these issues, and listening to what resources they have available, as well as what challenges and roadblocks they are facing. Based on the resources available, Milo is responsible for setting up initiatives to help address the challenges facing the region.
