Meet Zoe Vincent:

Zoe is from Lawrence, Kansas, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Visual Art Education from the University of Kansas. Rock Chalk Jayhawk! Her experiences creating and teaching visual art inspired her to pursue a career in community-based arts education. This pursuit led her to RARE, where she will get to help establish the Lincoln City Cultural Center’s Plaza—a space for the community to gather, appreciate art, and connect to one another.

Community and Organization:

Lincoln City is a town along Highway 101 on the Central Oregon coast that is home to about 10,000 people, existing upon traditional land of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, Cayuse, Umatilla, Walla Walla, and the Confederated tribes of Siletz Indians. It’s a popular travel destination that is surrounded by natural beauty on all sides and has a robust arts & culture scene. The town is composed of five areas—Taft, Oceanlake, Delake, Nelscott, and Cutler City—all of which combined in 1965 to better provide necessary resources to residents. Thus, the town stretches 8 miles north to south and each area has its own personality.

The Lincoln City Cultural Center enriches the community by providing a space for locals and visitors to engage with the arts through classes, activities, exhibits, and events for people of all ages.

Projects:

The LCCC will complete construction on their long-awaited Plaza project in the fall of 2023. Zoe’s role as the “Plaza Activator” will be to help with art documentation, promotion, engagement, operations planning, fund development, and volunteer program capacity building. By the end of her term, the LCCC will have long-term organizational structures in place to support the community’s engagement on the Plaza.
