Nearly 100 help with beautification project

Nearly 100 Creswell community members have stepped up to help improve the look and feel of Oregon Avenue through the Creswell Beautification Project, which kicked off last Saturday, May 16, with an inaugural work party held in conjunction with the City’s annual City-wide Clean-Up event.

With help from a local painting company, Derminer Painting and Woodcare, volunteers worked to power-wash and paint the facades of six downtown business’ storefronts between Front Street and Third Street along Oregon Avenue, power-washing sidewalks and picking up trash.

Blueberry bushes, flowers and other plants were also planted, sprucing up street-side planters to welcome the spring weather and keep Oregon Avenue blooming well into the summer months.

My Boys Pizza provided food for the hungry volunteers.

Creswell First!, the City’s first community foundation, partnered with enthusiastic volunteers and the city’s RARE Community & Economic Development Coordinator, Maia Hardy, to match resourcefulness with a great idea and bring the project to fruition.

“Without the partnership of Creswell First! the Creswell Beautification Project would not have been possible,” remarked Hardy.

A sign of great things to come, Creswell First! is committed to facilitating the sparks of great ideas; to bridge the generosity of community members with great ideas to better our residents and our community. Though still in its early stages, Board members are hopeful that the community foundation will kindle more great things to come.
